The Italian marine market for Crestabond and the Crestomer ranges of structural adhesives will continue to be supplied by Scott Bader’s long standing partner Resintex Technologies, who is the official Scott Bader national distributor in Italy for its range of Crystic polyester, vinylester and Crestapol resin range plus gelcoats, pigments and bonding pastes.

Its headquarters is located in downtown Milan, with its main warehouse and distribution centre in Tribiano, 20 km south of Milan, from which it supplies the whole of Italy. The company has been a supplier to the Italian composites companies for many years and is a long-standing member of ‘Assocompositi’, the Italian Industry Association for Composite Materials.

Working with Andercol S.A., a business unit of Grupo Mundial and a long-term partner in South and Central America, Scott Bader has created a 50:50 Joint Venture company in Brazil, named ‘NovaScott Especialidades Quimicas Limitada’. This new company will produce and sell a wide range of Scott Bader’s speciality products, and especially its extensive range of gelcoat products, in addition, Scott Bader will supply its range of structural adhesive products and high performance resins, which will be sold by NovaScott alongside the gelcoats.

The second JV will be working with S & A Abahsain, a privately-owned chemical company in Saudi Arabia, Scott Bader has created a 50:50 Joint Venture company named ‘Abahsain Scott Bader LLC’, to sell a wide range of polyester resins and other Scott Bader speciality products, including gelcoats and vinyl esters, in the Saudi Arabian market and other regional markets across the GCC region.

The price is set to increase by €75 per tonne and will go into effect from the 17th of September 2012, subject to existing customer contracts.

Scott Bader say the price increase is necessary following recent raw material volatility and upward pressure on materials driven by higher crude oil prices which leads to high feed materials costs such as Benzene, Styrene, Ethylene and Propylene. Scott Bader realises the fragile market conditions and the impact of additional price increases to our customers, but we are unable to absorb further costs and are forced to pass on these additional increases. Our Sales managers will be in contact with customers to agree implementation and where possible identify alternative savings

the first part will be to share technology and processes for the manufacture of unsaturated polyester resin (USP) gelcoats that will be manufactured at Satyen Polymers plant 175 kms north of Mumbai. A number of gelcoats have been identified as having potential to satisfy the needs of customers for development within the Indian Composites industry.

Scott Bader has had a presence in India for many years and the brand continues to attract enquiries from customers seeking value from suppliers. This is a significant step towards reaffirming its commitment to provide enhanced support to existing customers and also indicates confidence that the local industry will continue to develop and mature in line with global trends.

The joint venture will operate under the name Satyen Scott Bader Pvt Limited. The agreements will be implemented with immediate effect with UAE-based Scott Bader Middle East overseeing the transfer of technology and providing initial training. Production of the first batches of performance gelcoats is expected to be available by end July.
